Volumes
of history have been written about the ancient civilizations
of the Middle East, whether of the remarkable dynasties of the
pharaohs, hannibal's armies in North Africa or the pirates of
old throughout the Arabian Gulr. Talk of the Fmiddle East and
we're sure to have images of the great Sphinx brooding over
the trio of pyramids in Egypt, the miles and miles of beaches
of Tunisia, the gleaming metropolis and swinging mood of
Dubai. The Middle East is tryly a destination for all seasons.
Few know the vast region better than Kuwait Airways. Each of
the Gulf States offers a glimpse into various facets of
Arabia: the rugged and spectacular landscapes of Oman, the
inland sea of Qatar, the vast kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its
hidden settlements, Bahrain with its ancient archaeological
treasures and lively night scene of the Emirates, a shopper's
paradise with endless opportunities to lounge on the beach or
ski a xand dune.
The levant, too. Has its bustling cosmopolitan capitals and
millenniums-old sites testifying to a long history and proud
heritage: from Egypt's 6.000 years of civilization to the
fabulous lost city of Petra in Jordan and its Roman theatres
and temples. Beirut is determined to regain its reputation of
"Paris of the Middle East". Syria's Aleppo and
Damascus are also played important roles in the chapters of
the region's history. From the Maghreb, or North Africa,
Morocco's royal cities are splendours with palatial
architectural monuments and spacious mosques while Tunisia's
Hammamet possesses endless miles of beaches.
