Brisbane, basking in the sub-tropical sun, has a relaxed and friendly ambience. Apart from being the gate way to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and northern Queensland, the city offers easy access to island areas, enabling visitors to explore rolling hills, rainforest and lakes.
There are many tours and excursion that can be made, two we particularly recommended as not to be missed. Our City Sights and Lone Pine Tour is a good introduction to the area, showing you many of the highlights of the city. You drive past Parliament House, designed in a "tropical Renaissance" style which contrasts with its classical colonial and modern neighbors, before continuing by the Queensland Museum with its informative display of marine life on the great barrier reef, the Aborigines and their customs. After passing the Botanic Garden, you visit the renowned Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary- one of a few places where these cuddly creatures may be seen at close quarters- and where kangaroos, wallabies and emus may be hand-fed. The Brisbane river Cruise, abroad the wooden paddle-wheel "Kookaburra Queen", is another must, providing lovely views and a fascinating commentary about the city's history.
