It is not surprising that Queensland attracts visitors from all over Australia- and, increasingly nowadays, from dozens of other countries around the world. Thye Sunshine State, laying across the tropic of Capricorn, has a climate that allows visitors to enjoy its attraction to all full and Queensland really does have something for everyone, on matter on what they may seek from a holiday. For those attracted by water sports, there are some of the best swimming and surfing beaches in the world, unrivalled diving and snorkeling, superb game fishing and whale-watching and, of course, the natural wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. For Shore based
vacationers there is bush walking and magnificent game reserve and national parks, some of the southern hemisphere's finest theme parks and, in the main centers, a lively night -life. As else where in Australia the food is superb with a added advantage of homegrown tropical fruits and locally caught seafood.
Brisbane, the state capital, is a present city and a good center from which to tour the south-eastern corner of the state, where the highly developed resorts of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Cost offer facilities to suit all tastes. Further north, tropical Cairns and port Douglas are idea places from which to explore the Great Barrier Reef. And the Reef's tranquil island are a haven for those who to "get away from it all" and further a field, Queenland has even more to offer the adventurous visitor-there are mountains and rainforests to explore, the vastness of the out back stretches away to the west and, in the remote far north, the Cape York Peninsula contains vast national parks and some of the continent's wildest scenery.
