 Peninsula Malaysia is the easternmost and smallest of the great land masses projecting southwards from Asia -a slender sliver of land nearly 1,600 kilometres in length, bordered by the South China Sea to the east and the Straits of Malacca and Andaman Sea to the west Contained within its 130,000 square kilometres are mountain ranges, jungles and forests,quiet villages and busy cities, cool hill stations and sandy beaches,wide rivers and secluded islands. And, really 1,000 kilometres away across the South China Sea, are the two Malaysian states of sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo,where you may explore the Rejang River and meet the Iban tribespeople or,for the more energetic,climb Mount Kinabalu,the highest mountain in South-East Asia.
The population is equally diverse.The original Malays have been joined by people of Chinese and Indian ancestry,whilst the colonial period's European influence may be seen in buildings,language and the serried ranks of rubber trees.
While its warm tropical climate,hospitable people and a variety of attractions ranging from lazing on tropical beaches to river rafting and jungle trekking from testing your luck at Genting's mountain-top casino to shopping in one of kaula Lumpur's bazaars; playing a round of golf to trying your hand at kite-flying, Malaysia has just about everything a holiday-maker could require, including "Rasa Sayang"- a love for life.
