Day
1:Sydeny to Hunter valley (118kilometres)
Collect your car from your nearest Budget Car Rental office and head north out of Sydney, crossing the hawkesbury River then skirting Yengo National park to Wollombi and on to Cessnock in the Lower Hunter Valley. The area contains some of the new south wale's most beautiful pastoral scenery. Here are Australia's oldest commercial vineyards, renewed for producing fine white and red wines- Hunger ford Hills, Drayton's Bellevue, Tyrell's Oakvale, Mc Williams mount Pleasantly Lindemans, Rothbury and Wyndham Estate are particularly worth visiting.
Day2: Hunter Valley to the blue Mountain and Sydney (232kilometer)
Travel south towards Sydney before joining the Great Westran Highway into the Blue Mountain national park. The scenery is magnificent, with waterfalls tumbling over sheer sandstone cliffs into valleys shaded by eucalyptus trees. Pause at Wentworth falls where English-style gardens are at their most colorful in spring and autumn, before going on to Leura, a pretty mountain village with stylish cafes and good selection of antique shops Continue along Cliff Drive, Following the rim where there are superb views of the forest at the foot the cliffs- reached by the steps Scenic railway. Nearby are the Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens whilst further on is the town of Blackhealth, where the Blue mountains Heritage center traces the geology and ecology of the region. If you have time we recommend a journey down the step Victoria Pass to the rich wheat, cattle and sheep beyond- and to Jenolan Caves, the continent's largest and most spectular series of limestone caverns, encrusted with stalagmites and stalactites. From katoomba it is just an hour's drive back to Sydney, where you return your car to the most continent Budget office.
