Singapore/Bangkok
Day 1: Afternoon tea is served as you travel north across the island past palm trees and gardens. Leaving Singapore, you cross the Johor Starits causeway to Malaysia, where small village and lush vegetation soon give way to rubber plantations and views of distance hills. Relax with a drink at the bar before dinner is served en route to admire the elaborate Moorish architecture of the night up the Malaysian Peninsula.
Day 2: Enjoy the breakfast as the train passes through the thick jungle, high mountains and Butterworth. Here a stop leaves plenty of time for you to board the ferry across the straits to the striking island of Penang and take a rickshaw tour before you return to the train. Your journey continues to Padang Besar and the Thai border, where the mosque of Malaysia are replaced by Buddhist temple and the distinctive Thai architecture can been in the pretty rail side houses.
Day 3: After stopping briefly at the Thai resort of Hua Hin, the train journeys north through the spectacular scenery of Kanchanburi to cross the Kwai River gorge on a wodden trestle bridge. Amidst dramatic landscapes you cross the infamous Bridge where a stop is made for photography before you go on to Bangkok, arriving in a early evening.
Note: The journey can also be done in reserve order, that is, from Bangkok to Singapore.
