THE WINE ROUTE
6 days / 5 nights ( 127 Kilometers )

South Africa is deservedly famous for its wines. Many of South Africa's top estates have been in business for more than three centuries - the first grapes were pressed in 1659 - and there is now a range of some 2.100 different wines from which to choose. The different soils and the climatic variations in the Cape's valleys enable a wide range of wines to be produced -from exquisite set whites through dry whites to full-bodied, fruity reds.
The wine route takes you through country that is not only known for its wines but also for its outstanding natural beauty. Constantia, a garden suburb of Cape Town, is an extensive area of wooded parklands valleys and hills on the northern uplands of the Table Mountain range. Grout Constantia is the oldest and grandest vineyard in the Cape and the original homestead has been carefully restored and appropriately furnished.
Stellenbosch is the Cape's prime center of wine production, where many heritage landmarks can be found. To the north is the historic town of earl, the biggest of the Cape's inland settlements, founded in 1720. Franchise, Approached from the south through a spectacular mountain pass is also an important wine production center, to which, in the early 18th century, refugee Huguenots from France brought their winemaking skills.

THE GARDEN ROUTE  6 days / 5 nights (804 Kilometers)

The Garden Route encompasses in its 340 kilometers, from Mussel Bay to Port Elizabeth, an amazing variety of scenery. It includes the Outeniqua Mountains behind which lie the arid plains of the Little Karri (whirr, at Outsoar, the ostrich capital of South Africa, you can ride ostriches, watch ostrich races and sample ostrich steaks). On the coast is mussel bay - not surprisingly famous for its mussels - whilst further north are the Wartburg Mountains and the extensive Congo Caves. The little town of George, between Mussel Bay and Wilderness National Park, is known as the Garden City because of its plethora of yellowwood and stinkwood tress, Between Plettenberg Bay and Jeffreys Bay is the spectacular scenery of Tsitsikamma National Park - where there is some of the best surfing in south - earns Africa. Cape St Francis, further east, is a must for shell collectors. Golfers need not feel deprived! We have made arrangements for Emirates Holidays' guests to play at Fan court Hotel and Country Club Estate, near George. Designed by the best in South Africa.
Day 1: Cape Town International Airport to Cape Town (8 kilometers)
ARRIVE AT Cape Town International Airport where your rental car will be waiting for you . Drive to your Cape Town hotel where the rest of the day is at leisure to explore this fascinating city. We have chosen Constantia Uitsing in Constantia, however there are many hotels of excellent value in Cape Town.

Continue on to George - perhaps even further north to outsoar to see the ostrich farms (which will require an early start). The journey from George to the Move pick Wilderness hotel provides a succession of stunning views and is best driven during the afternoon after having visited outsoar.
